Interview with a campground
- Vikram Jashapara
- Owner of Springfield Park Campsite, St Albans.
Previously run a finance company, inventor of a series of speciality dog harnesses.
I used to have a finance company.
Because of the recession, one of the first things to get a ffected - and most severely - was finance. So I had to eventually give it up, and that's when I started looking at what to do. I had another business that I was trying to promote: it was a dog mobility harness, it's designed to help dogs that have cruciate ligament [problems], spinal injury, arthritis, old age: dogs that have walking difficulties.
Now they're selling worldwide.
There was a second harness that I invented that wasn't for disabled dogs, it was for able bodied dogs and it's absolutely amazing. It's called the GenX harness. I needed funds and that's how the camping really started. 10 weeks ago, I wondered how I was going to get the funds for the second harness, because all the funds I had built up I had to use to build up the stock on the first harness. So the camping sounded like a logical thing to do, because of all the land I've got.
