Merry Maids is a franchise of ServiceMaster Ltd, based in Leicestershire with over 55 years’ experience as a franchisor. Founded in 1979 in the US, Merry Maids launched in the UK in 1990 and has seen three new franchises launch in the last six months.

Mandy Ascroft and Trish Malley have taken ownership of Merry Maids of Wigan, which will serve approximately 170,000 potential customers throughout the Wigan area with bespoke, domestic cleaning services. Born and bred in the area, Mandy and Trish chose to change their career paths but stay local and work together to build a successful, family business. 

The business, with its new offices in Adlington is already looking to employ staff as it develops its customer base rapidly. 

Having been in the cleaning industry for over 16 years, Mandy said: “I’ve got the knowledge and experience of the cleaning industry but have never been in a position to start my own company. Partnering with Trish means we can work together, support each other and build a successful local business.” 

Leaving the NHS after a 35 year career, Trish added: “I was looking for something different, where I could manage my own time and be independent from a large organisation. We looked at franchising options and chose to invest in Merry Maids. We have big plans for the business and want to grow our team quickly, bringing more jobs to the area and offering a very high level of service.”
