One of first three CQC Outstanding ratings goes to Home Instead

Award winning management franchise, Home Instead Senior Care, is the first national home care provider to receive an Outstanding judgement in the Care Quality Commission’s new rating system.

Trevor Brocklebank, CEO and Co-founder of Home Instead Senior Care discusses the achievement:

The start of 2015 brings ‘Outstanding’ news straight home to us, we are the first national home care provider to receive an Outstanding judgement in the Care Quality Commission’s new rating system.

The CQC has announced its first three Outstanding judgements under the new approach, which has seen published ratings on over 300 services to date. At Home Instead, we’re incredibly proud that one of the first Outstandings has been awarded to our West Lancashire and Chorley franchise office, recognising our very personal brand of home care.

I applaud the CQC’s new rating system. It places more emphasis on the person receiving the care - that means real lives are better recognised – and that has to be welcomed.

Five pivotal questions underpin the CQC’s new approach to the inspection and regulation of our sector – Is the service: safe, effective, caring, responsive, well-led?

At Home Instead these principles are the cornerstones of our care provision and justify why an Outstanding CQC rating is a perfect complement to our ethos.

I believe the new ratings system recognises the difference quality care provision makes to real lives across the care landscape. That’s the lives of our clients foremost but also our CAREGivers and Care Managers as well as the care professionals that we partner with - to realise our passion for excellence in care delivery on a daily basis.

As the Chief Executive of Home Instead, I’m moved by some of the real life comments that featured in our Outstanding CQC inspection report and wanted to showcase them here.

What one of our clients said:

“The service is beyond our expectations. There are two sides to it – the service they provide and the wrapper they put around it. They don’t just care, they take responsibility for everything! We found other services lack this holistic approach. Home Instead are developing a lovely service.”

What one of our client’s relatives said:

“I can’t thank Home Instead enough for what they have done for us as a family. We are absolutely confident that we can always rely on them.”

What one of our CAREGivers said:

“The one hour visits are really good. You are never rushed and you get to do the little things that are important to people. We have time for companionship, which for some people is just as important as the care side.”

What one external care professional said:

“Their integrity, passion for what they do and commitment to the older/disabled people they support, is clearly evident in everything they do.”

To me, these powerful excerpts pay testimony to everything that we hold close to the heart of Home Instead, that’s the wrapper we put round our care service to make it personal.
