Profile

Home Instead Senior Care is an innovative business that’s been disrupting the home care market in the UK since 2005. It’s the world leader in providing non-medical care for older people in their own home. Operating in 14 countries and with over 190 franchises in the UK, the brand is well recognised and trusted.

Home Instead is No 1 in the Elite Franchise 100 ‘power list’, holds The Queen’s Award for Innovation and a Princess Royal Training Award. That’s alongside a host of awards from the British Franchise Association (BFA). It also boasts the most Outstanding Ratings from the Care Quality Commission out of any homecare provider, with 30 to date - and counting!

Market opportunity

There’s an ageing population which presents market opportunity for people who feel passionate about providing quality home care for seniors in our society. With people living longer and dementia statistics rising, the need for quality homecare is more relevant than ever.

Be a market disrupter and be your own boss

Home Instead is the pioneer of relationship-led care, a service delivered when clients want - by who they want - with empathy and companionship. Its standards are held in high regard - as what quality care should look and feel like. As a management franchise, no care experience is needed. The franchise owner’s role is to lead, manage and grow the business, with a team of care professionals managing and delivering the quality care. Investing in a Home Instead franchise is an opportunity to disrupt the care market and for owners to be their own boss, steering their business to success with control over their working hours and work/life balance.

Industry leading training and support

Home Instead’s training is unrivalled. With New Owner, 90 and 180-day development programmes, followed by ongoing support from the business development, marketing, care, quality, finance, IT and standards teams, a franchisee is always supported. There’s a 4:1 ratio of franchise offices to National Office employees, who are there to support owners throughout their business life cycle. Our franchisees support each other too, with strong peer collaboration.

Financials

The franchise fee is £39,500 + VAT. This includes the licence to use the Home Instead brand and all the support to get owners fully operational. The franchisee will also be expected to invest a further £60,0000 working capital to cover the set-up costs, and the monthly overheads for the first 12-18 months, which is typically breakeven point. Its franchises are on target to achieve £1 million turnover by year 4 with operating profits of 15-20%. There is an ongoing royalty fee of 6.5% of annual turnover, excluding VAT.

British Franchise Association (BFA) recognition

Home Instead is a member of the British Franchise Association (BFA). It has previously won the BFA’s Gold Franchisor of the Year award in 2013 and the Customer Focus award in 2015. In 2016, Home Instead secured the Ethical Franchise Recruitment award from the BFA alongside Silver in the Franchisor of the Year category. It is also currently shortlisted for the BFA’s 2018 Innovation award.

The territory

Every Home Instead franchisee operates within a territory determined by the number of seniors within a postcode region. Home Instead has invested in sophisticated demographic technology, which identifies where a franchisee’s target client base lives. This is a great strategic tool to help manage a territory effectively.

Home Instead has over 190 passionate franchises operating in the UK, with 115 territories available as well as 3 resales. The brand has disrupted the home care market with its innovative approach. It’s a business opportunity that’s right for people who want to be their own boss and stand out from the crowd. It’s right for people who want to do something that makes a difference with great financial returns. Currently, 25% of the Home Instead network have turnovers in excess of £1 million.
