From Care Leader to TEDx Standout: Dan Archer Tops 200,000 Views
Visiting Angels is celebrating another major milestone after UK CEO Dan Archer's second TEDx Talk, Technology Should Make Us More Human, surpassed 200,000 views on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel and was ranked the fourth most-watched TEDx Talk published globally in May 2026.
The achievement marks another significant moment for the home care franchise after Dan's growing body of thought leadership continues to resonate with audiences around the world.
This is not Dan’s first TEDx success. At the end of 2023, he delivered a powerful TEDx Talk, Returning a Grandmother's Love, exploring the importance of building a carer-centric culture within social care. Inspired by his own family's experience of care, the talk has since attracted more than 100,000 views on YouTube, capturing audiences across the care and franchise sectors and establishing Dan as one of the industry's most influential voices.
With more than 300,000 combined views across his two TEDx Talks, Archer's growing profile continues to shine a spotlight on Visiting Angels' relationship-led approach to care while strengthening the brand's reputation as one of the UK's most innovative and values-driven franchise organisations.
In his latest talk, Archer challenges the growing narrative that artificial intelligence could replace human care, arguing instead that technology should be used to strengthen relationships, emotional connection and wellbeing. Drawing on his experience leading one of the UK's fastest-growing home care franchises, he introduces the concept of "Augmented Emotional Intelligence" (AEI) - using technology to help people become more human, not less.
The TEDx presentation arrives at a critical moment for health and social care systems globally as ageing populations, workforce shortages and increasing demand place unprecedented pressure on care services.
One of the most compelling moments in the talk sees Dan challenge the direction of technological innovation in care, telling the audience:
"If the key to success in life is high emotional intelligence, and the key to happiness is human relationships and connections, surely we should be using technology to increase human contact, not to replace it."
The message has clearly struck a chord with audiences. The talk was recently highlighted by Best of TEDx as the fourth most-watched TEDx Talk uploaded to YouTube during May 2026, with viewership continuing to grow rapidly beyond the 200,000 mark.
For Visiting Angels, the success reflects more than the popularity of a single speaker. It highlights the strength of a franchise model built around relationships, culture and care quality at a time when many organisations are searching for answers to some of society's biggest challenges.
Across its growing network of over 80 franchisees, Visiting Angels has consistently championed a carer-centric approach that prioritises continuity of care, relationship-led support and empowering local business owners to deliver exceptional outcomes within their communities. This philosophy sits at the heart of Dan's TEDx message and continues to differentiate the brand within both the franchise and social care sectors.
"To see audiences engage so strongly with both of my TEDx Talks has been genuinely humbling," said Dan. "Whether we're talking about being carer-centric or using technology to strengthen human connection, the underlying message is the same: people matter. The response to this latest talk shows that people instinctively understand the value of human connection, particularly as we think about the future of care.
"I'm incredibly proud that Visiting Angels has always championed a model built around people, relationships and emotional intelligence. The engagement with this talk reinforces our belief that the future belongs to organisations that use innovation to help people become more human, not less."
