From Parent to Franchise Owner: One Decision That Changed Everything!
Matt Davies didn’t become a Jam Coding franchise owner because of spreadsheets or growth forecasts.
He did it because of his son.
As an educator and a parent to a neurodivergent child with autism and ADHD, Matt saw first-hand how hard it can be for children to find clubs where they truly feel comfortable. Traditional activities often come with pressure, noise and constant scrutiny - environments that simply don’t work for every child.
Matt began asking a simple question: “what would a club look like if it was designed for children like my son?”
That question led him to Jam Coding.
Through his background in education and entrepreneurship, Matt had already been thinking deeply about the future. He wanted children to develop confidence, problem-solving and independence -skills that matter whatever path they take. He also knew many families were facing the same challenges he was.
Jam Coding stood out immediately. Neurodivergent children often thrive in digital environments, where they can focus, feel in control and learn at their own pace. Using platforms like Minecraft Education, Jam Coding channels that passion into structured, inclusive sessions that build real-life skills, without pressure or judgement.
It felt right.
Matt launched Jam Coding Derby & Loughborough in 2025, starting hands-on and delivering sessions himself. Demand grew fast. One after-school club quickly became several, followed by weekend clubs, community sessions and birthday parties.
Today, Matt works with multiple schools, community organisations and is preparing to deliver funded holiday clubs for children who need them most. His business has grown, his team has expanded, and his impact continues to widen — all while staying rooted in his local community!
Now focusing on partnerships and growth, Matt’s journey shows how Jam Coding franchise owners can evolve from coach to business owner without losing sight of their purpose.
If you’re looking to build something meaningful in your area, Jam Coding could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
