Walfinch Hampstead and Camden Inaugurates Local Art Prize

{Walfinch Hampstead and Camden Inaugurates Local Art Prize}

Walfinch home care Hampstead and Camden has chosen the painting Untitled in Blue, by local artist Nobue Zimmern, as the inaugural winner of its Walfinch Award for Art.

Nobue's picture was chosen from many others by local artists, displayed at The Keats Community Library as part of the Hampstead Summer Festival. Nobue, who is a professional artist and a student at Hampstead School of Art, was awarded £100 by Walfinch.

Walfinch Hampstead and Camden's care team deliver a wide variety of visiting home care services, plus live-in care, but Director Daniela Miteva also finds time to volunteer on the summer festival committee.

Daniela says: “Walfinch is very involved in the local arts and music scene. Many of our clients were formerly professionals in the arts, music and theatre, so they like to attend operas, concerts, plays and art exhibitions.”

All of Walfinch's local clients and its care team are invited to attend the events it sponsors.

Daniela plays the French horn, and before working with Walfinch home care, she was an events planner involved in arranging many music festivals.

“Walfinch Hampstead and Camden also sponsors of the Big Fair, part of the three-week Hampstead Festival, and had signs and a stall on the main street where people could ask questions about care and our services,” says Daniela.

Cultural networking

“In an area like this, where people are very culturally aware, it makes sense to make arts events part of our networking activities, and as art lovers ourselves, we put an extra level of passion into these activities,” says Daniela.

“Our sponsorships help support our local cultural life, and mean that the Walfinch name is becoming well known in the area. We have already gained new clients as a result.”

Walfinch Hampstead and Camden inaugurated its first arts prize, an award for poetry, last year. It went to poet Robert Ilson, a client of Walfinch Hampstead and Camden,  who was so pleased with the care he received that he wrote the poem,  CREDO , about it.

The home care branch has close links with the Keats Community Library, and sponsors events there, including a Christmas Special Evening in 2024, featuring actresses  Janet Suzman,  Deirdra  Morris, and Patricia Hodge In June 2025 , it sponsored an event where human rights lawyer  Philippe Sands   presented his latest book,  38 Londres Street .

“We will be sponsoring further events at the library, including one in September and one before Christmas, and as usual, we will be inviting all of our clients and carers to attend,” says Daniela.
