WHAT IS HOME CARE

Hi!

I'm Amrit Daliwal, the CEO and founder of Walfinch. Today, I'm talking about what home care is. Home care, you know, I've been a home care franchisee and now I'm a care franchise or home care is really around supporting people in their own homes. With me, I'm really focused on longevity. I'm really focused on thinking, why can my home care brand not be a blue zone? Helping people live longer, age well, age gracefully.

Home care can be anything from half an hour a week and just popping in and giving someone some medication, making a sandwich and living with someone 24 hours a day. There's various different nuances, whether that be doing night shifts, awake or asleep, and just being there to support someone in case there's an issue long sits where you just sit with someone and do some companionship type stuff.

There is all of the stuff around live in care, which is where you literally go and live with someone and make sure that they are okay and safe and then those pop in visits throughout the day and it can go very complex. In my experience as a franchisee in the home care space, I've done things like peg feeding, suction, tracheostomy and all of that kind of thing. But it's also been as simple as going out with Mr. Jones, you know, to the bridge club and just having some fun.

So it's all of that and everything in between where you would train care workers and bring external people in, sometimes nurses and so on as well, depending on your registration with your regulator and really support people to live a fulfilling life at home and stay independent.
