The Bell occupies a central village position in South Newton beside the A36, approximately 4 miles north-west of the cathedral city of Salisbury. The A36 is a busy trunk road connecting the city of Bath to the south-coast city of Southampton. South Newton has a population of over 800 people and the village is home to some small businesses and a large neuropsychological rehabilitation nursing home which is now partly used and partly intended to change to residential development. South Newton is an ideal location for tourists being so close to Salisbury and within easy reach of Stonehenge which is in the top 10 of UK tourist attractions.
The Bell is an historic inn which is believed to date back to 1737 and has developed from a character village free house to incorporate a popular guest house. There is the possibility of change of use to expand as a guest house or even convert to residential, subject to the necessary permissions.
