General information

The business
The George Inn is a well known and well supported village inn, with a wide reaching catchment area across the Totnes, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge triangle of the beautiful South Hams.

The business has a fine reputation for its well presented and comfortable letting rooms, together with its inviting and atmospheric trading spaces both inside and out.

The George offers a popular and wide ranging seasonal menu, which is sourced locally where possible and also freshly prepared. The business undoubtedly benefits from ‘knock on’ trade downstairs in the pub from the five beautifully presented en-suite letting room. These rooms are consistently rated very highly across all the portals and review platforms.

The pub accommodation is rated 3 star by Visit Britain and AA, mentioning that they are clean, comfortable guest rooms offering real value and choice, a genuinely warm welcome and excellent customer service. Tariffs range from £80 to £125 per room per night on a B&B basis.

The business is run by a single owner with the help of a full time chef and part time assistant. The pub closes on Monday and Tuesdays and is open from 5pm-11pm Wednesday – Friday and Noon-11pm on Saturday and Noon-6pm on Sunday.

The pub holds two annual beer festivals, one of which is part of the village’s annual worm charming event on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

The George Inn trades at a profitable level, particularly helped by the high grossing letting room accommodation revenue. There is undoubtedly plenty more potential with the business particularly if traded longer hours/days and if operated by a husband and wife/couple.

Further trading information will be provided to bona fide interested parties following a formal viewing through to Sole Selling Agents, Bettesworths.
