This year's Keynote Interview will be with Mizan Syed, the proud owner of multiple Anytime Fitness, Pizza Hut and Pret a Manger franchise units. Mizan began his franchise career with Pizza Hut 18 years ago and operates over 20 sites across London, Birmingham, Cambridgeshire and Yorkshire. Conference delegates will have the chance to hear Mizan guide them through his extensive portfolio and how he’s maintained his impressive returns across all his sites.
No matter how experienced an entrepreneur or franchisee is, it is vital to maintain an awareness of market trends to ensure that their portfolio continues to thrive. This year, the conference will open with a panel session on delivering optimal performance. Speakers include Neel Sodha and Mike Chalton, offering insights on a range of business sectors. Neel has been in franchising all his life and currently owns multiple sites for Anytime Fitness, Domino’s and EE. Mike is an experienced care franchisee and joined Home Instead in January 2007. He is quickly becoming a role model for many in the industry and is continuing to expand, with another site due to open this year.
A second panel session will guide attendees on how to put the right foundations in place to achieve their long-term business goals. This panel will offer delegates three unique perspectives from speakers who have achieved what they set out to in franchising. Robin Arkle is a former Costa Coffee multi-unit franchisee who owned 57 stores across the South Coast before exiting and selling his businesses in 2018. Having successfully created, grown and sold his portfolio after 14 years in franchising, Robin is ideally placed to share the do’s and don'ts.
Robin will be joined by Tayyab Akhlaq, a franchisee for the trailblazing food brand Chaiiwala. He currently employs over 100 team members across 7 stores and was instrumental in the partnership between Chaiiwala and the 2023 Hundred National Cricket competition. Tayyab’s experience makes him the perfect spokesperson for multi-unit operators who are on the path to achieving their long-term goals whilst striving to expand and secure the strength of their portfolios.
