The Investment:
The initial fee for becoming a partner in Geek Retreat is just £14,950 (plus VAT).
This is payable in two parts: a £6,000 (plus VAT) deposit to reserve your territory, and a further £8,950 (plus VAT) when you sign your franchise agreement. You will also be able to claim the VAT element back later once you are up and trading.
Of course, you will also need to invest in setting up your new store and buying your initial stock, but we will help you find the best deal and give you access to our preferred suppliers. These costs can vary from location to location, of course, depending on the local market. We strongly recommend you also have a certain amount of working capital to tide you over until your revenue starts coming in.
With that in mind, we would expect you (with or without a business partner or co-investor) to typically have access to £30,000 in addition to further franchise funding from loans. We have experience in accessing government funded business loans and can help you with this application process.

Geek Retreat is an Entertainment Retailer specialising in geek-culture - everything from Batman to boardgames; Marvel to Magic: the Gathering. In essence, we’re a gaming cafe and events hub - we sell merchandise like figures, posters and clothing. We also serve food and drink - burgers, milkshakes and candy, all in a welcoming environment with free to play board games, video games and graphic novels to encourage our customers to become regulars.
We’ve innovated beyond this to become a recognised host of daily events, such as trading card games tournaments, which we hold in our stores each and every day. Whilst other branded stores sell similar merchandise to Geek Retreat, and a handful of independent stores offer sit-and-stay food & drink and events, no brand currently occupies the combined space of retail, hospitality, and events that Geek Retreat does.
Hardcore geeks will form the basis of our repeat custom and tend to make use of the sit-in-and-stay environment of the stores, including the free to play board games, video games and graphic novel library, meaning a higher than average per-visit stay time and spend.
All products will be paid for with either cash or card at the point of sale, keeping your cashflow healthy.
