CB(Hire) is a long-established catering, china and cutlery hire company based in Tewksbury, Gloucester. Bought in 2022 by its existing owners, it has worked diligently to re-establish its market position over the proceeding years to a point now, whilst partially complete, that time has run out.
The owner is now torn between two future avenues – one is a straight and simple transition into a much-earned retirement but the second is more complicated. Since his father’s passing in South Africa, 8 months ago, an opportunity has arisen to re-locate to Cape Town and his father’s very highly successful ‘boutique Hotel’.
The business MUST be cleared for the existing owner by the end of September 2026 and, to achieve that goal, the owner is offering for sale the company and/or its assets on one of two different bases.
1) A potential new owner purchases the business either as a going concern or as a business ‘asset strip’ and relocation of the existing assets.
2) The existing business ceases trading in September, the existing company dissolved, and the stock is sold piecemeal to interested parties.
Either option is open to consideration and ANY offer for whole, or part, welcome.
As noted previously, the existing team has been working to improve the stock and there is some way to go. Any new purchaser of the business will need to consider investments in three key areas’:
a) The possible purchase of new vehicles
b) The improvement an expansion of the existing web site, advertising and/or a more aggressive sales approach utilising current trends in advertising.
c) The ongoing, and rolling, purchase of new stock.
It would be fair to recognise that the market in the UK, generally, is depressed, making the timing of this sale inappropriate. However, the inheritance and opportunities presented by the unfortunate passing of the owner’s father, makes the sale of the business both critical and financially irrelevant.
With that in mind, there is no fixed asking price but the owner is open to consider ALL, and any, offers.
