The market town of Brecon (population of 8,000) stands on the banks of the River Usk and is synonymous with hill walking, being a town from which the famed Brecon Beacons takes is name. The Brecon Beacons is one of the most popular outdoor pursuits and tourist destinations in the UK with its mountains and ridges, numerous rivers including the Usk, Ithon and Irfon, a canal, mountain railway, waterfalls and many towns and villages to attract tourists.
