New welcome signage marks Morecambe’s end point of the Way of the Roses

Signs Express (Lancaster) was pleased to  assist Lancaster City Council and sustainable transport charity Sustrans by installing a new signage board at the western end of the coast2coast route, situated close to the iconic Midland Hotel in Morecambe.

The new signage has been unveiled on Morecambe Promenade to welcome ‘Way of the Roses’ cyclists to the town and show cyclists, walkers and tourists all the local attractions available to them. The new signage also gives an at-a-glance view of the whole route and carries the relocated route sign.

Andrew Dobson, Head of Regeneration and Planning for Lancaster City Council, said: “The spectacular Way of the Roses cycle route has already proved popular with cyclists and walkers alike and has transformed 170 miles of roads and cycle tracks into a new leisure route taking in some of the most spectacular towns, villages and countryside in the North of England.

Thomas Somers, owner of Signs Express (Lancaster), added: “We thoroughly enjoyed working on this project. My wife has previously cycled the Way of the Roses route and having seen a similar board at the eastern end of the route on Bridlington’s promenade, I’m delighted to help make sure we’ve got our own at the Morecambe end.”

Signs Express (Lancaster) has been in operation since 2002 with over 11 years’ experience. The centre is ideally located on Lake Enterprise Park on Caton Road, just two minutes from junction 34 on the M6. Local to the community they work with a variety of customers, covering areas such as: Garstang, Carnforth, Morecambe, Kendal and the Lake District.
