On 17^th April, Lord Mayor Cllr Karen Robinson officially opened Pitman Training’s newest facility on 2 Collingwood Street in Newcastle. She applauded the brand’s determination to support the objectives of Newcastle City Council in reducing the number of people currently out of work and to create more opportunities for future generations in Newcastle upon Tyne.

“Congratulations to everyone at Pitman for all the hard work that has gone into developing this fantastic training facility here in Newcastle. Over the years, thousands of people have gained skills and qualifications with Pitman Training, which in turn has transformed their careers and changed their lives. This new state-of-the-art facility will go a long way in supporting Newcastle City Council’s objectives in creating more opportunities for the people of Newcastle to upskill, find work and climb the career ladder. As Malcolm X once said, ‘Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.’ Good luck to the team here at Pitman Training Newcastle for a successful future in this Grade II listed, beautiful Italian Palladian-style building – it is such a lovely home for the staff and students.”

One student already benefitting from the new facility is Josh O’Donnell, who is taking the Data Analyst Diploma at Pitman Newcastle.

David O’Connell, the Centre Manager of Pitman Training Newcastle and a former Royal Navy Commando, said, “I am absolutely delighted with the support that Pitman’s new flagship centre has received from so many people coming from near and afar to make our launch day a very special one. It’s been a marathon to get the centre moved and to make our facility look amazing… but we did it, and it’s all thanks to the great support from the team at head office and the work of everyone at Pitman Training Newcastle! Now, we are excited to see what the future has in store, and we are on a mission to help as many people and businesses in the North East as possible,” said David.
