10 years of success for TaxAssist Poole

Ten years after setting up TaxAssist Accountants in Poole, the team has put down roots for long term growth.

Husband and wife team, Martin and Liz Tapley joined TaxAssist Accountants in 2007, and now look after more than 300 small businesses across the area. They recently made the move to a new shop at 256 Ashley Road, Poole, buying the freehold to ensure long-term growth in the area.

Before they joined TaxAssist, Martin, who has an Accounts and Finance degree, spent 12 years working for a pub retailer as an area manager and senior general manager before becoming a director for a motorway services chain. Liz has a Law degree, and was the Assistant Company Secretary of a PLC, responsible for pensions, share schemes and insurance.

“Martin was particularly disillusioned with corporate life and we wanted the flexibility of work to fit in with our growing family”, states Liz on their decision to join the TaxAssist Accountants network. “TaxAssist seemed a strong franchise, which would support us in taking the plunge into the unchartered territory of self-employment.

“With our accountancy and legal back-grounds we also felt that we had the skills to help small business owners, and both enjoy working with the public. We were also impressed by the integrity and likeability of the directors and staff.

“We have grown year on year and are still growing, despite having family constraints. We’re thrilled to be celebrating our tenth anniversary here in Poole and, having moved to a new shop on Ashley Road, we are excited for what the next ten years hold.

“It’s been a fantastic journey since 2007 and we look forward to helping small businesses in the region deal with the major changes in the next few years.”
