It Could Be You! Introducing Sharan Dhaliwal – Caremark (Cardiff & The Vale)
Before becoming the franchisee for home care franchise Caremark (Cardiff & The Vale), Sharan Dhaliwal, spent 25 years working for the NHS as a Nurse, Midwife and then a Health Visitor. Sharan dedicated her life to care, and when her husband sustained life threatening injuries from a road accident, she took time off to care for him.
She also had to take over her husband’s retail operations which taught her business practice. But, it was the poor level of care delivered by the carers helping her husband that motivated her to start her own business and provide a higher quality service.
Sharan says: “I had a solid business plan to start with which I reviewed periodically. Plus I determined simple critical business goals – you have to know where you are going before you get there. Building a successful business depends heavily on how well you work and relate with others. I mainly listen more than I speak.
“I’ve also had invaluable support from my regional manager and it was great to have the recognition from my franchisor when I won the SW regional award in January 2017.
“I am very pleased I have exceeded my targets set for the first year. I’ve also taken risks which I feel is key to building a successful business. We are now a provider of choice with our local authority and have a good reputation.
“I have some important short and long term goals, but most importantly, I want to be part of Caremark’s success.”
