New Nottinghamshire home care office achieves its first Dementia Friends Champion

Congratulations are due to home care provider, Caremark (Broxstowe & Erewash) on the achievement of a new Dementia Friends Champion, an award promoted by the Dementia Friends Organisation.

Daniel Butler, Care Manager with (Broxtowe & Erewash) successfully completed his specialist Dementia course and having impressed the Dementia Friends regional manager with his presentation, he was then invited to represent Dementia Friends and deliver the course to future candidates in the Broxstowe & Erewash area.

Ian Hind, Regional Support Officer - Dementia Friends said to Daniel: “Throughout the day, we felt that you showed you are a clear and confident communicator and were identified as a particularly strong Champion.”

Future plans include Daniel incorporating his newly acquired knowledge on dementia into the current care and support worker induction training for all new care staff.

Raj Solanki, Managing Director of (Broxstowe & Erewash) said: “The knowledge Dan is going to be able to share with our carers during their training will be invaluable.   This information will provide them with a better understanding of dementia and how to support our customers living with this challenging condition.”

Dementia Champions play a vital role in encouraging people to learn more about dementia and understand how the illness affects people differently.

Part of the Dementia Champion’s role involves holding information sessions in the community and inspiring others to help those living with dementia live more independent and fulfilling lives.

Caremark (Broxtowe & Erewash), a new home care service, will soon be providing a wide range of care and support services to older and vulnerable people across the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire counties upon successful registration with the Care Quality Commission.
