East Riding care provider wins new Extra Care Scheme contract

Caremark (East Riding) a home care provider in the East Riding of Yorkshire have won a valuable contract supporting older people living in a new £6.75 million extra care scheme which is due to open soon in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

The care company was appointed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to deliver care and support to residents who will be living in the 40 home purpose-built scheme.

This new contract will provide job opportunities to local people as Caremark (East Riding) will be looking to recruit new members of staff from the Beverley area when the scheme opens this summer.

Graham Precious, Managing Director of Caremark (East Riding) said: “We are delighted to have won this new contract to provide 24-hour care for people living in Rita Hunt Court.

“This will range from something simple as making someone a meal or assisting them to access the community, through to helping with more complex issues such as personal care, hoisting and assistance with medication.

“We have seen tremendous growth over the last few months, culminating in the recent opening of our new, larger head office in Hessle, and this new contract is further evidence of that.”

Forty, two-bedroomed self-contained apartments at the new Rita Hunt Court will be available soon offering varying levels of care and support to the residents, enabling them to live independently in their own homes with the comforting knowledge that support is there when they need it.

The modern, energy saving apartments are all built to a high specification offering optimal living facilities for residents together with a small balcony or terrace.  Residents will be able to enjoy the privacy of their own comfortable surroundings or socialize in one of the communal areas.

Councillor Richard Harrap, East Riding of Yorkshire Council portfolio holder for adult and carer services, said: “I am delighted that the new extra care housing scheme is not only going to provide essential accommodation for vulnerable adults but is also creating employment opportunities for people in the East Riding.

“With an ageing population living in this region, this sort of supported affordable housing is crucial and will undoubtedly make a real difference to the lives of residents while reducing the pressure on carers and families.”
