What your investment buys you, and what it gives back

{What your investment buys you, and what it gives back}

Starting your own business brings all kinds of rewards: being your own boss, setting your own schedule, building something of your own that you can be proud of. For any of that to last, though, it also has to be a sound business, of course. One that not only can offer you a good return on your investment, but also keep the profits coming in for many years to come.

That is why the goodbrother™ franchise puts its numbers in front of you clearly and early. If the figures are going to shape your decision, and they should, then you ought to be able to see them. So here they are again:

What it costs to get in

The franchise fee is £25,000 plus VAT. Beyond that, you'll budget for your showroom, insurance, legal fees and your first staff, bringing the total setup to somewhere around £125,000. That's a lot lower than a conventional kitchen business would spend, because the goodbrother model was built to be leaner from the outset: smaller, smarter showrooms, less stock sitting on the floor, and lower overheads month to month.

What you pay as you grow

Once you're trading, goodbrother takes an ongoing franchise fee of 7% of your gross monthly turnover, plus a 1% marketing levy.

That 1% isn't just another cost. It pays for a professional agency working on your behalf to bring enquiries in and get customers through your door, so you're never left to build your own marketing from scratch. It's the same thinking that runs right through the model: you get to concentrate on running your business, rather than having to master every part of it yourself.

What it gives back

This is where a leaner business model like goodbrother really shows its worth.

Lower overheads each month obviously means more of what comes in stays with you, and you reach the point where the business is properly paying you far sooner than most new business owners manage.

Based on existing operating figures, you could be looking at six-figure pre-tax profits by your second year. That is just an illustrative figure, of course, but one the franchise can stand behind with confidence, and they’d be happy to show you full financial details if you decide to take things to the next stage.

What if you don't have it all up front?

You don't need the full amount sitting in your account to take this further. There are several routes open to franchisees, including commercial lending and government-backed finance, and we can help you work out what's available and where to start.

We've also got someone on the team who specialises in helping new owners weigh up their funding options, so it's not something you have to puzzle out on your own. The thing to do is look at the numbers for your own situation, rather than assume the investment is out of reach.

If you'd like to sit down and see what the numbers could look like in your own area, we’re always glad to talk.
