The signs of a franchise built for the future
The best franchises never stand still. They keep improving, adapting and finding better ways to support the people who have invested in them.
Which is why this is especially big news: Countrywide Signs has just won the Continuous Improvement Award at the Best Franchise Awards 2026.
The awards are independently judged, which makes this recognition meaningful. It is not simply a business celebrating itself – it is external recognition of the work happening behind the scenes to strengthen the franchise network.
For the Countrywide Signs franchise, continuous improvement means looking at how the business can better support franchisees, improve its systems and make it easier for people to build successful businesses within the network.
That mindset matters, because the best franchisors understand that they do not have all the answers. They listen to their franchisees, take feedback seriously and keep looking for ways to improve.
Managing Director Tony Williams summed this up well when he said the award belongs to the franchisee network as much as the head office team. That says a lot about the relationship Countrywide Signs wants to build with its franchisees - one where people have a voice and where their experience helps shape the future of the business.
No franchise system is ever finished. Signage technology changes. Customer expectations change. The way businesses buy and market themselves changes too. The strongest franchise networks are the ones that keep adapting, investing and finding better ways to support their franchisees.
Countrywide Signs sees this award as another step forward rather than a finish line. New ownership, planned investment and further developments across the business all point in the same direction: the network you're joining should be stronger tomorrow than it is today.
The award is not the only sign that Countrywide Signs takes its franchise network seriously
Countrywide Signs is an accredited member of the British Franchise Association (bfa), the UK's independent body for ethical franchising. Every accredited franchisor has to demonstrate that it operates ethically, supports its franchisees properly and meets the standards set out in the bfa's Code of Ethics.
For anyone new to franchising, that's important. There is no government regulator overseeing the sector, so independent accreditation gives you valuable reassurance that a franchise business is operating in the right way.
Following the award, the chief executive of the bfa Pip Wilkins, added her own recognition of how Countrywide Signs is developing its network:
"Countrywide Signs has demonstrated a genuine commitment to developing its franchise network in line with the BFA's standards of ethical franchising. The business has shown a clear focus on continuous improvement, investing in support and strengthening its operational infrastructure to create a strong platform for sustainable franchisee success. It is encouraging to see the progress the business continues to make as it grows."
Viewed together, the award and the accreditation give you a much clearer picture of the business behind the brand. One recognises the progress Countrywide Signs is making, while the other confirms the standards it works to behind the scenes.
If you're investing your time, your money and your future into a franchise, those are exactly the kinds of signs worth looking for.
