About the adult social care market today
The UK’s population is ageing, leading to a greater demand for adult social care services across the country. This means that we need to see a tremendous increase in the availability of care services, not only in the immediate term, but for years and even generations to come.
The role of care providers like SureCare is to ensure that social care services can match up to the growing demands, both in volume and quality. That’s why it’s now more important than ever that we’re able to extend our available capacity for social care to more parts of the UK. And this is where you can come in.
As a nationwide network of franchised care providers, SureCare gives entrepreneurs like you the opportunity to launch and operate your very own business in care. Whether you are already familiar with the care sector or not, we offer the support and guidance to help you deliver essential services to people in your local community.
In running your own care business, not only can you earn a living whilst making a positive impact in people’s lives; you’ll also be playing your part in advancing the care sector at a really critical time.
Our ageing population
What does it mean when we talk about the UK’s ‘ageing population’? Essentially, it refers to the proportion of people over the age of 65, and how this number has been increasing and is set to increase further in years to come.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics indicate that over-65s made up about 18% of the population in 2018. This is expected to rise to just under 25% – 1 in every 4 people – by the year 2050. The balance of younger and older people in the UK is tipping more towards older people, as increased life expectancy means more of us are living for longer than ever before.
The various knock-on effects of an ageing population affect things like our economy and public services, as well as care provisions. Over recent years, the social care sector has come under strain, with the demand for care providers becoming greater than existing capacity.
That’s why SureCare aims to rapidly increase the number of providers across the country to support people where they most need our services.
The wider care market
What all this means for the adult social care market is that we expect to see more growth in the future, as many more people come to rely on care services in the years ahead. This also indicates that employers will be looking to recruit more care professionals to carry out these dedicated services.
Traditionally, people needing care in later life have moved into staffed care homes. However, the rise in domiciliary home care has made it more common, accessible, and preferable for people to receive care at home. Home care allows individuals to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes for longer, boosting their sense of independence.
Elderly care accounts for the majority of services in the adult social care market, but people of all ages require various forms of assistance in their daily lives. These include adults living with physical disabilities, learning impairments, restricted mobility, and even challenging behaviours.
Supporting people from all walks of life is our mission at SureCare. As we plan ahead for accelerated growth of our services over the coming years, we’ll work with entrepreneurs like you to set up new franchised businesses and deliver care to more communities across the UK.
Want to play a significant part in the expansion of the UK’s care sector? Get in touch with us today to find out how franchising with SureCare and launching your own business in care can be the right step for you.
