Jam Coding Franchise wins International Award for “Bespoke Curriculum”

15 April 2024

An education franchise with a difference, Jam Coding is a digital and computing provider with a mission to give ‘as many young people as possible a rewarding digital education’ and is fast achieving that mission.

At the end of February, they came away with a Gold Award for “Learning Innovation” at the Learning Awards 2024.

Jam Coding’s triumph is the result of a successful franchise program called the “Bespoke Curriculum” that invites teachers, entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts who share their passion to join them on their journey.

Roger Grogan, National Director at Jam Coding explained, “When the young people of today reach employment, the ability to write a line of code will be as essential as writing a sentence or a mathematical equation.

We believe that all children deserve a proper digital education, and that is exactly what our network is set out to achieve.”

Jam Coding is operational in over 30 areas across the UK, with 300+ ‘Code Coaches’ delivering computing lessons to up to 1000 children per week.

Explaining why he invested in the program, José Ferrando, who launched Jam Coding Hertfordshire in 2023 said, “I was a software developer for nearly 20 years and both of my parents were teachers so the opportunity to teach young people digital skills really resonated with me.

The world is moving so fast that it has become difficult to predict what jobs will be needed in the future, but it was clear to me that digital skills are a must.

I joined the Jam Coding mission to give young people in Hertfordshire the capacity to understand and adapt to the digital revolution. I want them to embrace technology, not only for their job prospects but to genuinely make their lives better.”

Ofsted highlighted in 2022, the reason behind the decline in interest was the lack of training, knowledge and resources available to primary schools. The Jam Coding Bespoke Curriculum is the solution to these issues and supports not only the children but the teachers and schools to address the digital decline.

It has since received recognition from The Performance and Learning Institute, who awarded the platform ‘gold’ for providing an innovative solution to the issue’s teachers face in the delivery of computing.

The Jam Coding business model gives franchise owners access to the company’s award-winning curriculum and learning platform, together with a library of trialled and tested processes to guarantee their success.

It is a great opportunity for passionate, community-driven people who are interested in creating employment opportunities whilst making a difference to the lives of the young people they teach.
