The Kings Park Hotel is situated in the busy Nottinghamshire market town of Retford. The town is approximately 31 miles (50 km) north of Nottingham, 23 miles (37 km) west of Lincoln and 35 miles (56 km) east of Sheffield. The population at the 2021 census was 23,740. The town is situated on the banks of the River Idle in the Idle Valley and the Chesterfield Canal passes through its centre.
The town is served by Retford railway station and is on the East Coast Main Line. It is 138 miles (223.1 km) from London King's Cross and is situated between Newark North Gate and Doncaster. It has four platforms, two of which serve the main line and the other two, located at a lower level and at right angles to the first pair, serve the Sheffield to Lincoln line. The nearest airport is Doncaster/Sheffield International Airport which is located 15 miles (24 km) north.
