CoGoGo are pleased to be managing the sale of Wild Thyme Spirits a unique and highly rated gin distillery business in the Isle of Colonsay, Scotland.

Tucked away between the better-known islands of Islay and Mull, and nestled close to Jura, lies a tiny island just under a two-and-a-half-hour ferry journey from Oban on the West Coast of Scotland.

Wild Thyme Spirits, a celebrated and profitable gin distillery, offers a unique opportunity for passionate entrepreneurs to take over an established brand located in the picturesque Isle of Colonsay, Scotland.

The current owners are retiring, paving the way for new leadership to build on their success.

Wild Thyme Spirits has garnered accolades for its exquisite gin. The retreat boasts a rich collection of over 200 gins sourced from around the globe, attracting gin aficionados and tourists alike.

Our client holds the copyrights for the name "Colonsay Whisky," ensuring exclusive branding rights that enhance the product's market appeal and differentiate it from competitors, thereby boosting sales potential.

Set in an idyllic location, Wild Thyme Spirits is a thriving business with an established reputation, ripe for further development. This is a rare chance to own a piece of Scotland’s distilling heritage and continue the legacy of exceptional gin production.

Growth Opportunities:
Enhanced Online Presence: Develop a robust e-commerce platform to increase direct sales and global reach.
Collaborations: Partner with local businesses and tourism operators to create exclusive gin experiences and packages.
Merchandise: Expand the product line to include branded merchandise such as glassware, apparel, and accessories.
Workshops: Introduce gin-making workshops to educate and engage customers, offering a hands-on experience.

Living on the island offers a serene, slower pace of life. Mornings could be spent walking along the beach, evenings by the fire with a glass of your finest creation, and weekends exploring the island's hidden coves and hiking trails.

This lifestyle business is not driven by the pressure to scale rapidly or chase high profits. Instead, it’s about creating a high-quality product that you’re passionate about, sharing it with discerning customers who appreciate the craftsmanship and story behind each bottle.

The clientele includes visitors who come for the distillery tours, tastings, and the immersive experience of the island paradise, as well as loyal customers who savour the unique flavours of your spirits back home.

Financial Profile

The business has already generated a fantastic turnover of £125,000 in 2024. Full financials can be made available upon further request.

They purchased the original house, Tigh na Uruisg, in 2007, but construction didn't begin in earnest until 2012, when a new, larger house emerged from the old foundations. Despite our client's background in architecture and property development, the challenging nature of this ambitious project in such a remote and unforgiving environment caused significant delays. The house was finally completed in 2016.
