Our business is one of a portfolio of pre-revenue websites we are selling. I invested in the build having identified a niche opportunity but, due to changes in my job, I am unable to proceed with these.
This website is a niche print on demand ecommerce business which sells magazine inspired posters and framed prducts as gifts. We had these designed specifically for this which are held on Canva and total over 50. We have launched with 10 but the scope for expansion is significant – the designs are very close to the magazine layout without infringing on rights. We have a choice of poster or framed with very many more size options available from the supplier.
The model is 100% automated with the client uploading the image and heading and this being fulfilled directly by the supplier, shipped to anywhere in the world. I wanted a side hustle that was unique and we tested this on ebay with great success before investing in the website.
Margins range from 50% to 70% but could be 100% as it is a unique product. The target market for these was ideally as gifts, anniversaries, birthdays etc with the key selling time being Christmas. I have an in depth marketing plan which I am including and formed the basis of the reasoning for my investment in this.
We have a few brands set up and this one is being sold as we are seeking to concentrate on a specific niche with different products which we have more knowledge in. I am including our extensive marketing plan which was compiled to support us so it can provide a pathway to develop the business further
It has been tested selling a few on ebay to verify the supplier before we invested in the website, custom designs and the online personalisation so it is very much a blank canvas for the new owner. I wanted this to be 100% automated and allow the customer to take full control of the product which has been achieved. We have invested in a specialist developer to build this after providing them with our marketing plan, and we they criteria was fulfilled.
The business would suit someone who has the time to dedicate to social media ads and is happy to monitor a website rather than have a real hands on, product creation approach. We have used technology to utilise all of the design and this lends itself to a part time or full time business.
The cost of running the platform is very low at only £30 per month which includes the hosting, Design software and supplier integration. There is a 1% fee for all completed transactions payable to the supplier which covers the cost of the personalisation without any fixed commitment. Our designs are included and will be sent in formats to allow direct upload to the software creation tool (happy to provide some training).
