This Prontaprint business on the outskirts of London has been run by the current owners since December 2006 and has been a trading Centre since that date. The owners relocated the unit to an adjacent property from its original site in 2014, having acquired and redeveloped the adjoining freehold site as a purpose built operation. The business is located on an industrial site immediately adjacent to a main London A-road and therefore has good road connections into central London.
An adjacent Prontaprint opened in 1989 and ran until March 2018 when the building was acquired by a developer who wished to redevelop the site. The business and client base was amalgamated into this Prontaprint with a postal address being maintained for correspondence. Very few clients were lost during this period, making this a very sizeable Prontaprint operation.
The location is in a vibrant, cosmopolitan district with many local small business units. The Olympics in 2012 were a catalyst for renewal and over the last fifteen years the area has benefitted from a substantial redevelopment programme in the vicinity of the trading premises.
The location lends itself to new marketing initiatives. There are huge opportunities on offer with the rapid business development that continues close to the Centre. It is anticipated that there will be in the region of 15,000 new units and shops being built within half a mile of the premises. If regular marketing is planned under new ownership, with the intention of attracting new clients, the business has the potential to generate significant additional revenues and profits.
The Prontaprint brand is, of course, nationally recognized and the business is actively supported by the Headquarters team. With assistance from the brand owners and equipment manufacturers, Prontaprint business owners are kept up to date with all the relevant technological advances. The equipment, software and technical know-how available to our customers is market leading.
After nearly 30 years, the reputation and service levels continue to attract customers. The owners proactively sell on the basis of “fast turnaround and high levels of customer service”. This has resulted in a substantial and highly profitable business which has provided the owners with an excellent financial return over many years.
The owners plan to retire from the business at the date of the sale but would be available for some consultancy work, if required.
A full 5 year lease will be granted.
£30,000 per annum
The business is situated on a Trading Estate, immediately adjacent to a main arterial road leading into London.
The premises covers approximately 2900 sq ft, with 4 parking spaces at the side of the building and further parking available for approximately 5 cars.
The freehold unit is owned personally by the sellers who also own and manage a small number of serviced offices (six) on the first floor of the building.
The unit benefits from a solar panel system and there is a common supply of electricity which services the whole unit. It is envisaged that this arrangement will continue post the sale as the full electricity charges are included in the management accounts
Historically, the business has carried out limited marketing activities. However, as a result of their high quality service delivery and range of products offered, combined with the Prontaprint name and reputation, the company has ensured that a constant flow of work has come in from local businesses and the local community. This mix of customers has proved invaluable during challenging trading periods and in volatile economic times, as well as providing a varied and interesting combination of work.
However, under new ownership, with a more sales oriented direction, it is envisaged that that business will be able to build strongly on this base. The area is undergoing immense development and many new businesses are moving into the area, offering a wide range of opportunities for print.
With straightforward routes into London, as well as out to neighbouring counties, a wider development of the business is also possible.
Reason for selling - The current owners wish to retire
Prontaprint was founded in 1971 with the aim of building a chain of High Street print shops offering the highest standards of design, print and copy. As the demand grew Prontaprint rapidly became a household name and has grown to be the foremost brand associated with on demand printing.
Sivast Limited, which owns the Prontaprint brand, brings together the requirements of all business owners, and facilitates preferred supplier relationships which business owners can chose to take advantage of or owners can make their own procurement decisions. This ensures the best price and service for the business owner, leaving them to concentrate on their customers and growing their business. The Prontaprint network covers over 40 print on demand businesses.
Under the brand the network is able to share best practice as well as source low cost print capabilities from each other.
