Taylors is a very well established restaurant, having been in the same ownership for over 20 years. This extremely popular business is well known throughout the town, the South Devon area and beyond for its fine cuisine and delightful views over the River Dart and across to Kingswear.
Taylors Restaurant is probably one of the most picturesque places to enjoy fresh cuisine in the area, inspired by Devon’s land and sea. The owners have built up an outstanding reputation and a loyal following over the last two decades, with the restaurant currently ranked number 3 out of 46 restaurants in Dartmouth on Trip Advisor. Taylors is a favourite for its comfortable and stylish surroundings, with its combination of flavoursome dishes enhanced by the beautiful Harbourside view.
The menu changes regularly according to the seasons and local produce available, with the a la carte menu offering starters and light dishes at a price between £7.50-£12.50, with main dishes between £19.50 - £34.50. Taylors specialises in fish and has an extremely tempting wine list to accompany all dishes.
The business is owned and operated by a couple, one of whom is in the kitchen and one front of house. There is one further full time member of staff in the kitchen and two people who help part time. The business opens for lunches Wednesday – Fridays from 12pm – 1.30pm with the restaurant closing at 3pm. For dinner Tuesday – Saturdays from 6.30pm – 8.30pm, with the restaurant closing at 11pm. The restaurant is popular for various events which run through the year and is a sought after venue for private parties and small gatherings. Taylors also is well renowned for its Christmas Day and News Year’s Eve parties.
The flat above is currently occupied by staff members, but could easily be made available as either living accommodation for the owners or rented out for holiday letting. Dartmouth is an incredibly popular holiday destination and this could potentially add a lucrative source of income to the business.
Whilst Taylors is well established as an a la carte restaurant there is still plenty of scope to grow the business further or indeed change the style. This unique elevated position overlooking the Harbour and Estuary make it a very popular choice of places to eat, with customers coming back time and time again.
The business has particularly strong turnover and a very impressive bottom line net profit – further trading profit and loss accounts will be provided to bona fide interested parties, following a formal viewing arranged through the Sole Selling Agents, Bettesworths.
The property is held leasehold from private Landlords, The Dartmouth Trust on a 21 year lease effective from 2016, with the benefit of security of tenure. The current rent is £17,050 per annum on a part Repairing and Insuring basis.
We have been informed that the property is connected to mains water, sewage and electric with gas central heating in the flat and wall mounted electric heating in the restaurant.
