The business is run by the owner and two full time farm managers, with the additional help of volunteers. Between 8 and 12 seasonal staff work in the café during the open season. The farm is open from 10am until 5pm in the months of March to October.

The Garden Cafe offers an easily managed drinks, snacks and lunch menu with paninis, sandwiches and cream tea for two, as well as a popular children's box, with a choice of sandwich, drink, crisps, fruit and animal biscuits.

The Totnes Rare Breeds Farm is adjacent to the Totnes station of the South Devon steam railway and many visitors access the farm and garden cafe, after taking the South Deon railway from Buckfastleigh. The farm is part of 3 Great Attractions with visitors being offered joint tickets with South Devon Railway and the Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterflies.
