Blackaddie House Hotel is located in the popular and easily accessible Dumfriesshire village of Sanquhar. Found on the banks of the River Nith, Sanquhar is nestled amongst the high hills and secluded glens of Upper Nithsdale in Dumfries and Galloway, the heart of the Southern Uplands. Sanquhar is located on the A76, with the hotel 300 yards from the main road. Dumfries and Ayr 27 miles and 32 miles away respectively. Owing to the excellent road network the town is within a 1.5 hour drive from both Glasgow and Edinburgh via the M74.

Premises Details:

Dating back to the first half of the 16th Century, Blackaddie House was originally built as the Rectory to St Bride’s Church. The property is built of local stone planned on two floors under a pitched and slate roof. Over the centuries there has been many extensions, all creating a charming country house hotel set in approximately 2 acres of very well maintained and mature gardens. The hotel enjoys excellent views over the River Nith with further benefits from having ample parking to the front and rear and can easily accommodate up to 40 cars. Since purchasing the property in 2007, the business has been completely refurbished and is presented to a high standard both internally and externally. In addition to the main building the site comprises of 3 guest cottages, an owner’s cottage plus staff apartment.

Lounge bar
Located to the left-hand side upon entering the main hallway, this pleasing lounge bar is tastefully decorated and furnished well throughout. Offering a charming atmosphere, it is an ideal place to relax with comfortable surroundings. The room can cater for up to 15 people.

This bright and elegant dining room is located to the right side of the hallway and retains many original features including ornate cornicing, and large bay windows, overlooking the gardens to the front and side. Presented to a very high standard, the tasteful decoration fits perfectly with the surroundings of a 4 star country hotel and is open every evening from 6.30pm. Non-residents are advised to book as it is regarded as one of the finest restaurants in Dumfries and has won many accolades including 2 AA Rosettes. A Gourmet Tasting Menu can be offered as well as the Fine Dining menu.

Breakfast Room/ Function Room
Presented well throughout whilst offering pleasing views down the river, the room is ideal for small private functions/meetings and is used daily for serving breakfast.

Guest Lounge/Library
What was previously the restaurant, has been transformed to create a comfortable and relaxing room offering guests a place to sit in quiet surroundings read from the selection of books and plan the days ahead.

Leading from the guest lounge/library it is the perfect room to sit and relax with open aspects over the gardens and towards the river.

Letting Accommodation
The hotel offers 7 en suite letting bedrooms within the main building with one of the rooms, a small single that is currently not used. Each of the bedrooms are individually designed to an exacting standard and have benefitted from a refurbishment programme over the last couple of years. Available throughout the year, both have become very popular with families and outdoor enthusiasts.

Crawickfoot Lodge (sleeps 4 + cot)

John Kerr Lodge (sleeps 4 + cot)
