On what she did before buying the business...
"We've run it since October 2011. Before I bought the business, I worked for the police force, on the front counter of a police station in Nottinghamshire, and I also worked for the force crime directorate on homicide as well. My husband worked in health and safety and construction."
On what made her decide to sacrifice stability/a secure income to become her own boss...
"Times had changed in the construction business, my husband kept getting made redundant, and I was getting fed up and disillusioned with the police force, so it seemed a good time to just change our lives.
My brother in law always wanted to live in France and I thought "that's a good idea" so we went back home and we went to France to have a look and we thought "well, what can we do in France?" and the only thing we could do - and do well - was bed and breakfast, we couldn't find a B&B in France that was suitable for our needs, so they ended up in Cirencester in a B&B and we carried on looking.
Jessop House was up for sale and it was in a good location. It was opposite the Abbey, so you had the tourism, it was by a business park with a lot of international companies, and it was by the M5, so it was all about location.
The location was right for us, and we have all year round business: we have businessmen in the week and tourists at the weekend."
