The Argyll Arms Hotel occupies a superb water front location overlooking Bunessan Bay. The Bunessan area has a wide range of facilities including a GP surgery, Sub Post Office/Spar grocer, Bunessan Bakery/Café, Fingal's Cave souvenir shop, Church of Scotland, Baptist Church, primary school and village hall. Fionnphort is approximately 5 miles away with a ferry to Iona and trips to Staffa (Fingal's Cave) and the Treshnish Isles. The Fionnphort area (8 Miles away) also houses the multi award-winning Ninth Wave Restaurant, The Keel Row Pub/Restaurant and The Ferry Shop selling groceries, hardware, books and souvenirs.

The Isle of mull is a haven to watch wildlife and in particular for bird watching. It is common to regularly see White-tailed and Golden Eagles, Hen Harriers, Great Northern Divers, Gannets, Terns and ground nesting birds including Skylark, Lapwing, Wheatear, Pipits and Warblers. Red Deer and Otters are regular visitors as are Common and Grey Seals. In the summer Basking Sharks, Dolphins and Porpoise can also be seen around the coastline. Mull has the largest breeding population of White-tailed (Sea) Eagles in Europe and the elusive Corncrake is a regular target species for 'twitchers' from all over the country.

The island of Mull was formed by volcanic activity many millions of years ago. Its northern coast is separated by the Sound of Mull from the land mass of Ardnamurchan, the most westerly point of the UK mainland. The island is renowned for its varied and extensive wildlife, marine life, geology, landscapes and sea views, together with its numerous bridleways and footpaths for walkers of all ages and levels of expertise including its very own Munro, Ben More.

The island is connected to the mainland by a short and regular ferry crossing to Oban or to Lochaline.

This unique and traditional stone building dates back to the 19th century. Access is granted through the main front door leading directly into reception area.
To the right of the Reception area there is a modern restaurant and bar with a variety of free standing chairs and solid wooden flooring, which adds to the traditional charm of the hotel. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner for up to 70 covers at a time, with food being prepared in the fully equipped commercial kitchen. There is a dual sided wood burning stove that separates the bar from the restaurant. At the rear of the dining area is the games room which has a pool table and dart board. This is very popular throughout the year with locals.
The public areas are well served by male and female toilets facilities. There is a front facing room on the ground floor that is currently unused. It could make a cosy traditional bar that would be ever popular with the residents of Bunessan.
