The Doon Inn has been in our client’s family since 1965, and is therefore extremely well established, and something of an institution in the area. It is only due to retirement that our clients have decided to place the business on the market.
The business enjoys a great reputation as a good ‘locals’ bar and enjoys a loyal and regular clientele, derived predominantly from the local area.
The business is at the heart of the community and provides a range of entertainment and themed nights, including a pub quiz, live music, darts and dominoes teams etc, as well as being a popular venue to watch live sport on the televisions and large screens.
The business is 100% wet led and is free of tie, and we have been advised that the barrelage is circa 245. It is felt there is potential for a new owner to introduce a food offering should they wish to do so.
The subjects benefit from a prominent trading position on Broompark Road, within Blantyre, a civil parish in South Lanarkshire. Blantyre is a popular commuter town, with fantastic road and rail links, providing easy access to Glasgow (9 miles) and Edinburgh (41 miles) via the newly upgraded M74/M8 motorway network.
Blantyre has a population of approximately 17,500 people and also benefits from surrounding towns and villages including East Kilbride and Hamilton.
The subjects themselves, are positioned in the heart of the town, close to a number of surrounding retail units, and are opposite a restaurant & bar, which compliments the business. Other amenities in the area include primary schools as well as a range of leisure facilities including the David Livingston Centre which includes a museum, play park, café, shop & gardens and Strathclyde Park.
The subjects can be accessed either from the front of the property or from the side, both of which lead into the large open plan public/bar lounge area.
A large bar/servery is positioned in the centre of the premises, providing service on 3 sides, as well as stool seating round the bar. The premises have been designed and fitted to a high standard in a welcoming and homely style, with a licensing capacity of 150 people. Seating is provided in various areas throughout the premises, with a range of seating from comfy sofas, booths, banquet seating and loose tables and chairs/stools.
Entertainment includes a darts area and gaming machine, and live sport is shown on a number of flat screen televisions as well as 2 large screens and projectors.
