Making Over The New Kitchen Experience: Kitchen Makeovers’ Remarkable Growth

01 February 2024

Seeing rapid growth in less than three years of franchising, Kitchen Makeovers now boasts a 24-strong network of franchise locations. Founded in 2018, Kitchen Makeovers has developed a reputation for its cost-effective, high-quality, fuss-free kitchen renovations, making a significant impact on the home improvement sector and franchising as a whole.

The journey so far…

The passion project of Founders Will Frankling and Matt Oakley, Kitchen Makeovers, was launched to fill a gap in the market after they, like so many others, had hoped for a simple update to their own kitchens, but unfortunately, simple it wasn’t!

As the 24th franchise location launches, giving the brand a presence in major hubs around the UK, from Cornwall to London, to York to Preston, Will believes the last three years of growth have affirmed the need for a cost-effective solution to home renovations amid the cost-of-living crisis.

“It’s taken hard work and dedication from the whole team to get to this point. It might look like we’ve grown quickly, but a lot has gone on behind the scenes – we’re now in a really strong position to push the brand even further. We’ve developed a robust franchise model and proven the concept by recruiting franchisees who fit our culture. Our franchisees enjoy interacting with customers to design a wonderful kitchen in the heart of their homes, using a team of craftsmen to deliver the dream,” said Will.

“We’ve adapted to changing times – we don’t have showrooms. The showroom experience is brought directly to our clients, allowing them to envision their new kitchens in the comfort of their own homes. By eliminating the need for showrooms, we’ve reduced overheads for our franchisees, enabling a greater focus on delivering superior products and services. Kitchen Makeovers also really appeals to both franchisees and customers who care about the environment and sustainability – upgrading or renovating isn’t just about saving money, it’s about helping to save the planet too.

“Over the past few years, and especially due to the pandemic, there has been a significant shift towards remote work, leading more people to work from home. This transformation has highlighted the importance of well-designed home spaces, not only for productivity but also for overall well-being and family dynamics. I’m proud of what we’ve collectively achieved at Kitchen Makeovers – our next goal is to launch our 30th franchise location before the end of the year.”

Kitchen Makeovers distinguishes itself by offering a comprehensive service that allows customers to transform their kitchens without incurring the cost of a complete renovation. By retaining the existing kitchen units, the company focuses on replacing key elements to give a fresh new look. They can change kitchen cupboard doors, drawer fronts, end panels, plinths, handles, worktops and even appliances. Once booked, the new parts are made to measure and can usually be fitted with little fuss in one or two days.

With 23 franchisees operating 24 locations, its longest-serving franchisee Phil Chrysandrea has recently celebrated expanding into a second territory, “My Kitchen Makeovers business now covers Cornwall and Plymouth. I launched in late 2020 in Cornwall, having come from a sales career in sectors such as mobile communications. By year two, I was generating an income that significantly surpassed any salary I had previously earned, but I also have the freedom of a work-life balance I never got to experience before.”
