Caremark reveals ‘The Incredibles’ award winner

Debra Watson, affectionately known as Debbie, has emerged as the top care assistant in the UK, securing the coveted title of 'Incredible of the Year' at Caremark's prestigious Incredibles awards.

The announcement was made during an exclusive event at the iconic Fortnum & Mason in London last month. Debbie was recognised for her exceptional dedication and compassion in providing personalised care.

In a competition that pitted her against nine other outstanding finalists chosen from a pool of over 5,000 Caremark care assistants across the UK, Debbie's victory is attributed to her unparalleled commitment to tailoring care uniquely for every individual.

Awarded with champagne, shopping vouchers, and a commemorative plaque and certificate, it was Debbie’s exceptional commitment that extended beyond the conventional that set her apart and claimed her the win. Evident in her acts of kindness and generosity, from completing puzzles together to picking up favourite pastries and dancing to cherished songs, she ensures her customers receive care that goes above and beyond expectations. Her dedication has led to transformative experiences, including helping individuals overcome phobias and fostering strong, trusting relationships.

Moreover, Debbie's keen observational skills have proven invaluable in identifying early signs of infections among those she supports. By swiftly seeking medical assistance, she has played a crucial role in preventing serious problems for numerous customers.

David Glover, Joint CEO of Caremark, remarked:

“Debbie's story of compassion and devotion, as well as her ability to uniquely tailor care for all her customers, exemplifies the spirit of Caremark and our Incredibles award. Her consistent dedication to her customers has rightfully earned her the title of 'Incredible of the Year’.

“Not only has she gone out of her way to immeasurably transform the lives of the people she works with every day but, because she knows her customers so well, she’s picked up on indicators of serious illness that would usually take longer to detect and avoided multiple medical emergencies.

“To top it all off, she has a brilliant temperament, she lets people talk and knows how to listen, and doesn’t rest until everyone’s needs are met.”

Gursh Baryah, managing director of Caremark Dartford & Gravesham, who nominated Debbie, added: “We’re so proud of Debbie; this award is so deserved. She is an absolutely outstanding carer, so much so that we have several customers who have specifically asked for Debbie to be their permanent care assistant.”

One of Debbie's Caremark customers echoed this sentiment, saying, “Debbie is excellent, and even though I know she has many customers, she makes my mum feel like she is the only one. Her attention to detail is absolutely fantastic and much appreciated. I'm not sure how we would do without her now.”
