‘Outstanding’ CQC rating for Guisborough home care provider

Management, staff and care workers at Caremark (Redcar & Cleveland), the Guisborough based home care provider, are feeling elated following the result of their latest inspection by their regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The company, which employs over 200 staff and delivers 4000 hours of care and support each week to vulnerable people living at home, is amongst the 1% of providers in the UK to receive an Outstanding rating.

The inspection examines five principle areas of the operation and asks:  

-  is the service safe?
-  is the service effective?
-  is the service caring?
-  is the service responsive?
-  is the service well-led?

Caremark received two Outstanding marks and three Good marks, with the service being judged Outstanding overall.

In the report summary, the inspector said: ”Within this vibrant, dynamic and innovative service there was the strong sense of leadership, commitment and drive to deliver a service which improved peoples’ lives.”

Comments from some who use the service included: "Staff always do more than expected and go the extra mile. It was a lovely surprise when one of the carers bought [person's name] an Easter Egg."

"We have outstanding carers who go the extra mile and attend to [person's name] perfectly."

“I think having these excellent carers has really helped me stay on top of things and I don’t think I would be here without them.”
