Harvey wanted something where he could focus on customer service, whilst building a successful business

08 February 2023

Harvey Rainbow invested in the Oven Wizards Territory after previously working as a store manager at the Co-Op. This is what Harvey had to say about his experience so far –

“ I did a fair bit of research before I made my investment, I liked how well the Oven Wizards proposition was put together. There is lots of information available to get an understanding. I wanted a business where I could focus on customer service whilst at the same time building a successful business for myself and my family, Oven Wizards ticked all the boxes. One other factor for me was the size of the territory, Oven Wizards offer a good sized Territory with more than enough work available.

During my initial training I was able to spend time with a local Wizard and from day one I learnt how to provide a professional oven valeting service. I have lots of neighbouring Wizards whose help and support has been invaluable. I also get the regular support from John and Mark. I sleep easy at night knowing that we have a wealth of experience to draw on from within the Oven Wizards community.

One of the best things about being self-employed is that I manage my own diary. I have been to festivals, family weddings and birthday parties and still make time to go out with friends once a week, this is something I never had time for in my previous career. I can work around my lifestyle. I really enjoy that “wow moment” when I leave a customer’s house and the look of surprise on their faces on how clean their oven now is. I really enjoy knowing that I am building a business that is all mine. The harder I work the better it is. No business is without risks but the franchise model has really given me the support I need whilst having the freedom to grow how I want to.

I have been able to put in place the new things I have learnt whilst being an Oven Wizard to make sure I have had the best start possible. This has been so insightful as it really is a proven model. When John and Mark say they know what it takes to build a great oven cleaning business, they know what they are talking about.

Whilst I am still a newbie in the oven cleaning world, I plan to really grow my client base for the rest of this year. I would like to go multi-van at some point in the future and have already started looking into it. In terms of the business growth, I am really looking forward to year two, Milton Keynes is now a city and I am looking into how I turn my man-in-a-van operation into our city’s number one oven cleaning business.

Before investing, definitely do your research. It is a big commitment, however if you put in the work, it can pay off and you can build yourself a really good income. I would also say have a look around. The greatest piece of advice is patience. This isn’t a get rich quick scheme and I don’t have a Lamborghini on the drive. I do however have the foundations to earn a good income that I deserve and the opportunity to grow. I have the time I wanted to be able to spend time doing the things I want to do.

You put in the effort and time and the world is your oyster.
