Bright & Beautiful Derby raise money in support of two charities for 2020

17 March 2020

Eco-friendly and ethical professional housekeeping business, Bright & Beautiful® Derby, has selected Dementia UK and Derbyshire-based Me & Dee for its charities of the year.

Dementia UK is the chosen national charity for Bright & Beautiful to help dementia specialist nurses to support more families facing dementia.  Me & Dee provides holidays for adults and children facing life threatening, life shortening or terminating conditions.  Bright & Beautiful Derby will organise a range of events to help raise awareness and funds throughout 2020 for these two charities.

To kickstart its fundraising, Bright & Beautiful hosted a Tea Party on Monday, 9th March raising a total of over £100 each for both charities with a few more donations to add in the next few days. Over 30 clients, family, friends and local businesses came to the Derby-based offices to have a cuppa and a slice of cake, as well as taking part in a prize draw to win some great prizes, including one basket of ironing completed every week for one month, a hamper of Eco-friendly cleaning products, Prosecco, chocolates and goodies..

Launching her business two years ago, franchise owner Toni Hibbert has always shown her support for local charities and played a key role in the Derby community, from volunteering for Operation Christmas Child to taking part in the MoonWalk for Breast Cancer and becoming a silver sponsor of Derby based charity - Me & Dee.

Being an ethical employer and employing local people has played a big part in the success of Toni’s business.  She has doubled her workforce and now employs 17 trusted housekeepers, all of whom have been carefully selected, referenced and DBS checked to ensure client peace of mind.   Since last year, she has also seen significant growth across the business, increasing her turnover by 30%, doubling her customer base to 80 and boosting her monthly cleans to 180.    This has led to a new off-site laundry service to new and existing clients and an investment in state-of-the-art commercial machines.

Toni said: “Supporting charities is high on my agenda both personally and professionally and it is more important than ever that we give back to the community.  Dementia is a condition that is close to my heart as my nan (Lily) suffered from Alzheimer’s for many years and Me & Dee is local to us a business and any donations can make a real difference to so many lives.  The tea party was great fun and everyone was hugely generous with their donations, so a big thank you!   To coincide with this event, we launched our new laundry service with a ‘shirt ironing race’ – our winner ironed her shirt, to an excellent standard, in a record 2mins 35 seconds/minutes!  Amazing!

“My housekeepers are my most important assets, so it is essential to invest in their development to not only ensure long tenure but also to create a positive environment and culture. It’s fantastic to be able to create employment opportunities for local people and to be providing an exceptional service at the heart of the community.”
