Nationwide Resettlement Awards

He enjoyed a successful career in the British Army with active service in the Balkans and Iraq, and has gone on to build a highly successful business providing quality care at home to older people and vulnerable adults.

Right at Home Bournemouth's owner, Andrew Davis, has shown an impressive ability to transfer his skills from military systems to a franchise system.

Having reached the rank of Major and specialised in Army Training during his years in service, Andrew has since directed his inspirational leadership into building up a team of dedicated CareGivers, creating a growing number of jobs in Bournemouth and East Dorset.

Since he launched the business in 2012, Right at Home Bournemouth has won a business award for client satisfaction, establishing its place in the Top 10 care providers in the South West of England.

This admirable transition into Civvy Street was commended this month at The Nationwide Resettlement Awards, which are organised by Pathfinder International, the organisation which supports service-leavers into new careers.

The Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the achievements of Service Leavers who have successfully progressed through the transition from life in the Armed Forces to life as a civilian.

Andrew was named as a finalist for the Service Leaver Franchisee of the Year Award, sponsored by Marstons, after he was nominated by his franchisor support team at Right at Home UK.

He took his wife Stacy up to Manchester for the Award Ceremony at the Hotel Football, where they were joined by Right at Home Operations Director Tim Jones.

Andrew said: "I was disappointed that we didn't take home the award, because I have a huge pride in the team at Right at Home Bournemouth and the amazing work that they do every day to make a difference in their clients' lives.

“It’s been quite a departure from my previous life, certainly!” says Andrew.

“I chose franchising because the notion of being “the master of my own destiny” was really very important to me. Secondly, I wanted to have that relationship and guidance –a road map to success if you like.

“I was attracted to care it has enabled me to do something that makes me feel good about the value we are adding to the lives of our clients and their families. As we have grown and established our reputation as a quality provider, we have been able to generate more than 40 jobs and most importantly the people that we provide care and support to are enjoying a better quality of life. That feels really great.”
