ERA prove two heads are better than one…

26 June 2014

One of the many benefits of investing in an Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA) franchise is that whilst you operate as your own boss with the support of a head office team, you also benefit from regular contact with the wider franchise network so that you can make use of the expertise available.  ERA franchise partners collaborate and form consultancy teams bringing together a range of skills in over 130 cost areas to fulfil the specific requirements of their clients.

Charles Reid and David Brassington teamed up in 2008 and have been working closely ever since.  Charles explains: “We started with an 18 month trial of planning bids and attending client meetings together.  It was quickly apparent that working together was more fun and our closing rate for deals was far greater so we agreed to continue working together.”

As to why they chose an informal arrangement Dave says: “The decision not to become a partnership or ltd company is deliberate – not by accident or through laziness. This arrangement exists all on merit and can be wound up at a moment’s notice. I think this makes us focus a little more. It’s both more and less ‘pressured’.

More - because we each have another party – another family – another pension scheme for whom we are responsible. It’s a little more ‘edgy’ - Less - because we can share that load.”

This collaboration has created a winning team as Charles and David bring different experiences, skills and approaches to provide a more comprehensive solution for their clients.  David comments: “On the whole I handle the sales and marketing and Charles will do more of the client management.  However, we purposefully keep our roles flexible as clients naturally gravitate to either one of us as the meetings progress.  Having two different personalities involved gives us the flexibility to tailor our approach to the client.”

It’s also financially rewarding, “Working together we have taken our individual annual earnings to over £150k per annum, with an achievable plan in place to take these to over £200k each within 2 years.”

Confident in the longevity of their business model and the growth their businesses are enjoying, David has just renewed his 10 year ERA franchise agreement and Charles is looking forward positively to his own 10 year anniversary and renewal option later this year.
