INCREASING THE CREDIBILITY OF AN OSCAR FRANCHISE

30 June 2017

OSCAR Pet Foods is the only pet food franchise that provides a unique Ofqual qualification in Companion Animal Nutrition. By including this valuable business development in its comprehensive training programme, OSCAR ensures that franchisees have a higher level of expertise and even more credibility when advising clients about pet nutrition.

Working with the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE), a course has been specifically written for the OSCAR franchise network. With recognition throughout the national education system, gaining this certification allows franchisees to use the designated letters CertCan (QCF Level 3)* after their name

The course is spread over nine months, with students committing to only four hours of study a week. The project includes diets and feeding regimes as well as the combination of nutrition for health and disease and the effects of nutrition on behaviour.

Awareness of the complexities of pet nutrition opens many other avenues of opportunity for franchisees to ensure greater customer satisfaction, but also the chance to reach a wider audience, adding value to their thriving pet food home delivery businesses.

When running your own business, the price of furthering your knowledge can be costly, but with OSCAR Pet Foods' commitment to training and education you can join a franchise that provides professional knowledge to help cement long-lasting brand loyalty and a more profitable business.

A word from franchisees...

Lesley Lavin – Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire

“Having not studied for many years I would have found any educational project a challenge but once I got started on the COAPE course I really enjoyed it.

“I have been reassured that my advice from the past has been correct but now, with improved confidence, my nutritional knowledge allows me to discuss issues in more detail. All my notes and books from the course have become a great resource of specific facts and figures to support and guide my customers.”

Jayne McGarry – Bolton, Lancashire

“Recently undertaking the COAPE Certificate in Companion Animal Nutrition has given me, on a personal level, a greater understanding of the theory behind pet food nutrition. How to ensure food is proportioned was explained, including why particular minerals and vitamins are present and why the balance between protein and carbohydrates is essential.

“I now have a unique advantage over others in the same industry as this qualification has provided me with greater confidence when advising customers on the correct food to suit their pets' needs and lifestyles.”

Shaun Brigden – Burgess Hill, West Sussex

“Coming from a practical background, the COAPE course and exam challenged me personally. However, I am so pleased to have followed it through, and to pass is an achievement in itself.

“I now have so much more confidence in explaining the facts of nutrition and also the ability to question others when their opinion differs. My notes from the course are proving to be extremely useful as I am able to refer back should I need to.”
