Franchising provides a great opportunity for women in business.

06 March 2019

International Women's day is celebrated annually on 8th March and this year's campaign theme is #balanceforbetter, a call-to-action for driving gender balance across the world.

There are over 45 female franchisees across the OSCAR and Leading the Way network, and to mark this special day we would like to celebrate the achievements of our inspiring women business owners. Both franchises provide flexible working hours and can be successfully developed around home and family life; although drive and ambition are required to build and grow a successful business.

OSCAR Pet Foods is the UK's largest pet food home delivery service, offering a comprehensive range of products to suit all breeds and lifestyles, providing an unrivalled level of service for loyal and happy customers.

Leading the Way Pet Care offers professional help with dog walking, pet visits & pet taxi services supporting pet owners on a day to day basis.

The pet industry is of particular interest for women wanting to set up in business due to its demand for strong communication and networking skills. Adding franchising to the mix not only embraces these innate capabilities but also offers the security of a steady income from a tried and tested business model with much-needed support and guidance from dedicated franchisor professionals. It’s a great way for women to be in business for themselves but not by themselves.

“Although I'd had a long-term ambition to run my own business, I wanted it to be something different from my past career and something that I could combine with managing a young family.” Lucy goes on to say, “After looking at my options I could not have wished for a better opportunity. OSCAR enabled me to use my people skills, and also my previous experience in customer services and hospitality, which tied in nicely with my qualification in event planning.

“Having been given fantastic support to get started I have nothing but praise for OSCAR in making the whole learning process easy to follow. What's more, I have no worries as the backup advice and helplines are always open.”
Lucy Kyte - OSCAR Pet Foods, Hampshire

‘Here was an opportunity to work flexibly, at my own pace, around precious family commitments, while indulging my life-long love of animals and enjoying a steady income from the rapidly expanding pet industry.

"Leading the Way support has been outstanding, going above and beyond. We have never experienced this kind of commitment, helping us through the early challenges of starting a new business with no previous experience."
Michelle Corrigan - Leading the Way Pet Care, Chorley

We are looking for enthusiastic people to follow in the footsteps of our successful women franchisees and reap the benefits of running either of these exciting business ventures. If you would like more information ...
