We are selling a luxury high end curtain pole company. The company can be based anywhere in the UK. It is a manufacturing business and is trade to trade only. We purchased the business in January when the previous owner decided to close down. The business was highly profitable and the only reason for closing was that the owner had decided to move on to do other things. At the time of ceasing to trade it had a turnover in excess of £450,000 with a net profit margin of around 85% to prior to costs of overheads etc. We have estimated that there would need to be two office staff to take orders and process them and then two workshop staff with potentially another part time depending on time of year. You would need a workshop that was around 2500 square feet and install a spray booth, shelving and packing bench.

We estimate that you would need to invest an additional £50,000 in stock, marketing and and additional £15K in setting up the workshop. The cost of course is very dependent on which designs you choose to sell. It would be possible to grow the stock organically but this would not be our recommendation.

2. Stock - there is a limited amount and we would recommend that the business reviewed the designs and relaunched a more streamlined collection.
3. The price is for the following: name, website, email, all designs and all design right, all masters, all moulds, customer data base, supplier data base, analysis breakdown of customers, products, colours - to include all paper work that was supplied to me at the time of purchase. Within this there are about 6 brochures, lots of CDs with photography and misc items. The stock is additional and you are welcome to collect what you wish/what would be of value to you. Any remaining stock would be disposed of by us within a month. Within the stock there are lots of brass brackets of which there are quite a few of the modern brackets and the double brackets, finial parts, some wooden finials and metal finials but alas it is not as extensive as we would have liked. Due to its weight (brassware is about 3 tons) it can not be stacked too high and would need to transported in a removal type lorry due to its weight. All items such as moulds, masters, paperwork etc would need to be collected. The masters alone are worth in excess of £20,000.

The reason for selling is that we have chosen not to expand our business and make further investments. We are planning for our retirement and developing our business further would be leading us in the opposite direction. The new owner would need to develop the company and have stock available to clients as soon as possible in order to capitalise on the brand.
Finally the brand is well respected in the world of interiors and its client base was not only in the UK but also in the USA, Europe and Russia.
You would need to choose your own location and rent or buy a business unit from which to trade from. We estimate something in the region of 2500 square feet. Depending on your location the price would be about 4.50 per square ft. £12K to £14K per year
There is unlimited scope for expansion. The range can be developed further introducing new designs and colours. In addition the range could be presented at high end interior trade shows suchs as Decorex.
Has little competition. It is a very high end product selling to some of the most prominent and establish interior design agencies in the world. It has regular accounts with the USA and the products have been used to furnish palaces, hotels and substantial private homes throughout the world. It is very exclusive and has its own niche in the interiors market.
We are not expanding our company and planning to retire in the near future.
Usually 9 to 5 Monday to Friday but this would be dependant on you.
