The kiosk was completely rebuilt in 2002 and is unique as the café straddles the Brighton and Hove border, with the café premises in Brighton and the seating area is in Hove. The café was designed by the present owners to ensure maximum efficiencies, when preparing and serving customers.
The Meeting Place Cafe has featured in several books, films and TV dramas. A documentary was made for the Brighton Festival to tell the story of the old and much-loved kiosk before its demolition and the grand opening of the new kiosk. During the winter months the café is open from 7 AM-5 PM (subject to adverse weather conditions) and during the summer this increases from 7 AM-10 PM
