The Flying Pig (formerly Ystalyfera Arms) is reputed to date from 1845 and situated in the village of
Ystalyfera in the Upper Swansea Valley. This former industrial village sits on the banks of the River
Tawe is astride the A4067, some 13 miles north-east of the City of Swansea and junction 45 of the M4
motorway, and approximately two miles south of Brecon Beacon National Park, being a mecca for
outdoor sports enthusiasts and tourists.
The property is of traditional stone and brick construction, with rendered and colorwashed elevations
under a pitched slate roof. Since purchasing the business, the current owner has undertaken much
refurbishment and redecoration, including the development of a former meeting room into an open
plan private lounge, kitchen/dining room with mezzanine level. In addition, they have developed the
old brewery into a well-appointed two-bedroom Air B&B, which has huge scope for letting or private
use.
