Hello and thanks for looking. For 13 years, I ran a chain of chocolate shops in the UK. So, I know the industry and suppliers very well indeed.
Recently, I decided to dip back in and I developed a range of 11 x 85g chocolate bars for the UK market. I did this by-
(1) I knew a manufacturer of bars (in Belgium - They speak great English)
(2) I had a good brand name and logo, with a design for the bars. I approached a design agency who worked with me to create the finished product.
(3) I then had samples made to show buyers and I wrote a selling pack. So, everything is ready to go.
(4) For a later date, there's a 45g option, No-Added-Sugar and the supplier is open to produce different flavours, too.
I have other projects on the go and I just do not have time to go out and sell them. The project is 95% ready to go. If you are good at sales, then this might be for you.
To drive this forwards, you will need to find customers. Then have the packaging printed (you can still change what I did, if you like) and the bars made. This is actually straightforward. The two companies work with each other as it is and I will introduce you. Then you need get the bars picked up and shipped to the customer. Marketing wise, I've always used Belgium. In front of buyers, when you say this country, there's an instant acknowledgement that they taste great and have been made properly.
There's good margin in this. I was looking at doubling my costs to get to a whole sale price (exceptional) and then the price can be doubled again by the retailer (normal). This is very healthy indeed.
You do not need any manufacturing experience. Just a love of chocolate!!!
This would be a good business for someone with lots of enthusiasm but lacks an idea. This is the idea. I will pass on everything that I have done so far plus some advice, if you want/need it.
