A small established boutique business selling vintage inspired clothing and accessories for women, with a well stocked men's section. The general eras covered are the 20s, 40s and 50s. Everything is a good quality reproduction, not true vintage.
The business has been located in Arundel for the last five years (was in Horsham prior to that) and has a regular, returning customer base. It also has an e-commerce website and uses social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
Arundel is a pretty tourist town with the added attraction of the Castle. Some times of year can be quieter than others, but this business being a provider of Vintage clothing and therefore specialized, has a customer base that come far and wide to shop. A lot of work has been done with the website, and google which is showing great progress. Due to the lockdowns in 2020 we spent extra on google ad words, which has increased our online takings by approx. 15%. Our biggest marketing referrals come through from Facebook. At the moment we are still taking more in the shop itself than online, but this side is growing.
We now utilise the upstairs too and have created a menswear room and the back room is for formal and out of season at present.
The business has a reasonable rent and small service charge fee. There are no rates currently payable. The lease (which is tenancy at will) can be transferred over easily.
I have suppliers and contacts I order from, and have recently started an own brand collaboration, which can be carried on relatively easily, should you wish to continue it.
The Business is owned by a Ltd Company with shares, currently owned by myself – the sole director. I am also the only official employee. All our financials are public record and accounts are up to date. All trading history is available on request. An amount is owed to an investor, but this and any current liabilities would be settled upon sale. The Business is to be sold as the Ltd Company with the existing bank account – to be transferred to the new owner and Director.
Ideally I would like to sell to someone who has a love for what my shop is about and whom intends to keep the business going in its current location. Someone who has great vision and inspiration to take the business to the next level. It has scope for expansion into other areas and there is space to add new lines.
I would happily assist with a handover for a short period, so that I can show the new owner, the current day to day, whilst they settle and implement their own procedures.
This is very difficult sell as I have put a lot into getting this business started and its growth to a thriving and popular shop over the last seven years, but I have been offered an exciting new opportunity, that is not conflicting, that I really want to explore.
