Having been involved in the travel industry for 20 years Jane Lowther thought she had seen it all.

However, when the volcanic ash cloud struck early in 2010, effectively bringing commercial air travel to a halt and causing chaos for business travellers and holidaymakers alike, it was clear to the experienced lifestyle management consultant there was a gap in the market for a travel product that could take all the hassle out of an unscheduled or premature return home from a holiday or business trip.

Jane realised that insurance policies covered many of the costs associated with having to re-arrange travel plans, but didn’t actually offer immediate assistance in what could be a hugely stressful situation.

HelpUHome for businesses offers emergency assistance and a full concierge services for before, during and after travelling at home or going abroad anywhere in the world.  In the event of a travel or business issue, HelpUHome will arrange all return travel, including booking hotels and advising company and family members of travel changes.

Delayed Flight
Karen’s flight from New York to London was first delayed and finally cancelled. She called HUH and we are able to advise a number of different options, what the airline would have to provide if she chose to take the next flight they offered but in the end she decided to take the alternative flight we found her with a different airline which resulted in her getting back to London 2 hours later than she would have originally, we also advised how she need to claim her compensation she was lawfully due.

Flight cancellation and new hotel
David & Sarah’s flight back from India was cancelled due to engine trouble, we were able to talk through their options and they chose to stay on in Delhi for 3 extra days before taking another flight home. We sorted out the airline changing the flight for them and found a suitable hotel for them to stay for the next three nights, we also arranged for messages to be passed on for people back home who needed to know about their delay including cancelling and re-arranging the taxi that was due to pick them up from Heathrow. Also, as they were, Premium members we send them idea of things to do during their unexpected stay in Delhi. 

Translation
While on a trip to Düsseldorf, Chris’s laptop developed a power fault, we were able to advise where he needed to take it to get it look at and also provide a translator who would be on his mobile to help explain the problem to the IT Company.

Cancelled train
When the Eurostar was cancelled due to train broken down in the tunnel, we provided information on alternative ways of getting back to the UK, including times and costs which enabled David to make the choice of the one most suitable for him.
