In conjunction with the Good Companions senior management team, we now undoubtedly have one of the leading and most experienced Franchise Teams, with considerable experience in winning a wide variety of Local Authority tenders and in gaining accreditation to deliver commissioned regulated services on behalf of the NHS and Local Authorities.

Developing a Care at Home Agency Franchise - Local Authority and NHS

GCHC expect the largest proportion of our business sales will be to private sector clients using individual contracts of care, however, our franchise model is quite unique from others in that we will always consider competing for local authority and health related contracts.

The term of each contract is variable but most contracts are commissioned for a number of years and depending on the hourly rate these contracts can often provide a profitable alternate income stream. The better local authority and NHS contracts are often fiercely contested due to the potential for added profitability, longer term job security and the ability to improve financial planning over a number of years.

The GCHC Franchise Team are now one of the strongest leading tendering teams in the country and have the experience, ability and confidence to compete and win against large companies for lucrative contracts. Few Franchise teams have this track record or experience.

GCHC’s aim is to establish an organisation and network, advantageously positioned throughout the country to gain sales in all aspects of care at home, with an increasing focus on integrated health and social care services.

With national promotion and advertising throughout multiple localities, the Good Companions brand is expected to become a household name associated with quality and caring for people at home.

GCHC will provide assistance and support for all new franchisees to enable them to deliver registered care at home services under the growing network of Good Companions.


The Franchise Model is different from most.

The model provides the opportunity to focus on a range of different income streams but it also includes the successful elements associated with other well-known Franchise models Most current highly successful Franchise models focus on delivering Domiciliary Care to the private social care market only.

GCHC is primarily focused on marketing services to the private market, however we also have a clear focus on delivering a range of distinct additional services. This has the impact of providing additional income streams and marketing opportunities.

In effect we believe the business model is more robust, is able to achieve faster rates of growth and reduces risks. It is not dependent on one single income stream and will be more appropriately placed to take advantage of future service delivery developments within the healthcare and social care markets.

Local Authority and Health Authority contracts, either individual or combined as one, can provide more longer term profitability and offer more security for the investor. GCHC have experience of tendering, winning and running small to large scale contracts. In each territory, the individual local authority will have different specifications to their contracts.

GCHC will:

Examine the local authority contract and make observations regarding the availability of a contract and secondly, if the contract is worthwhile and has the potential to be profitable. All initial discussions, advice and decision making support are free of charge for the franchisee.

Low Cost Entry Price. Most Franchise models cost from £30,000 to £40,000 (exclusive of VAT). The cost of a GCHC Franchise is £9,000 or monthly payments of £250 pcm.

Management Fee. Most Franchise operators charge between 5% and 10% which is effective immediately from Day 1. GCHC Service Management Fee is only 4% and does not commence for 3 months after the contract is signed. This reduces the overall expenditure for the Franchisee and increases their ongoing profit margin.

Experience and Ability. Most Franchise operators have limited experience and capability to provide services of a complex nature. GCHC has considerable experience and an ongoing increasing ability to deliver and manage complex care, which are often high value packages of care.

Our highly experienced Franchise Team have a track record of gaining local authority accreditation, in winning major local authority tenders and in delivering community based services with combined sales approaching £7,500,000

Tenders and Contracts. Most new start up Care Agencies are excluded from completing for large local authority and NHS contracts as they do not have the required operational scale and the required prior experience of delivering large contracts. As a GCHC Franchise you will have the ability to immediately compete for local contracts benefiting from our prior experience, operational scale and growing networks.

Territory Size. A territory up to 5 times greater than most Franchise operators. Most Franchise operators provide a territory with a population of around 50,000 which is usually confined to a single location. (i.e. In Carlisle and District the population is 102,000 and there are 8 local Domiciliary Care operators).

A GCHC territory contains roughly 120,000 elderly people and is capable of supporting several businesses at some distance from the central office. This enables the Franchisee to expand and grow their business within the boundaries of the whole territory.

National Services. GCHC already have a national network of Regional Managers who are all Registered Nurses and we already operate Live In Care services on a national basis. New Franchisees will have immediate access to these services and the growing network of Good Companions Franchisees will further enable and further develop the opportunities provided by this service.
